Thinking of doing an iPod wedding

I've been obsessed with TheKnot.com these days. I'm especially obsessed with its budgeter feature. Unfortunately for us, the venue and the dress has already set us up to break our budget, which by the way, isn't that small. Considering our budget constraints, I am trying really hard to think of ways to reduce our planned wedding expenditures.

One of the ideas I came across was doing an iPod wedding! No musicians or cheesy DJs, just a good ol' iPod hooked up to a sound system. After checking out PA rentals in the NYC area, we can rent a PA system with microphones for just under $300! TheKnot.com budgeted over a thousand dollars just for music. If we go with the iPod wedding route, we can save a LOT of money! The biggest drawback to this would be that whoever I assign to handle the music may not have much time to have fun, and/or mingle. Still, I am really enamored of this idea right now - not just because we can save money, but we can also control the playlist. I really would not want to do the Mararena or the Chicken Dance at our wedding.

Anyways, it's still under discussion, but I really hope to get this through!
